What is “Mediation”?

Every day we encounter conflict situations. Most we solve with a bit of tact, time and patience with each other. Sometimes, however, conflicts can lead to arguments that are so encompassing that they overwhelm us. This applies to difficulties in business as well as in the personal environment. In such cases, a mediator comes into play.

MEDIATION

Mediation is a non-judicial conflict resolution process between all involved in the conflict. The process is carried out by me as an external, independent and neutral third party.

Mediation is supported by the principles of voluntariness, personal responsibility and common mutuality. At the end of the mediation, a self-generated and individual solution to the conflict is found by the parties involved.

I, as the mediator, am responsible for communication and reconciliation between the parties. The conflict parties themselves are responsible for the content outcome of the negotiations.

Other core characteristics of mediation are trustful and open communication as well as cooperation. This includes full confidentiality of everything discussed during and after the mediation.

My mediation service, also provide structure, dynamics and a timetable. These are additional key elements, which are missing at “normal” negotiations.

THE GOALS OF MEDIATION

Permanent settlement of the conflict is the heart of every mediation. This goal will be accomplished by the parties involved themselves together with the mediator by:
